Here’s some letting agent news you’ll love! Letting agents are joining Shelter Scotland’s “Letting Agent Plus” scheme to assist tenants in Scotland. The scheme has been set up to support private renters who may be finding themselves in difficult situations. According to James Battye, Developer of Letting Agent Plus, the private rental sector has tripled in size since 1999 leaving many tenants with limited support when financially securing their home. Letting Agent Plus will assist letting agents when it comes to finding support for the tenant who may be experiencing financial problems with their landlord. The support can range from money, welfare benefits, budgeting and debt advice, potentially preventing an eviction from occurring.
So far 6 agents will be supporting the scheme across Central Scotland, coming from a range of property sectors including a social landlord subsidiary, a social enterprise and commercial agents. The agents will receive one to one support whilst also have access to a free training as well as the use of a free helpline should one of their tenant’s require assistance. Belvoir Edinburgh and Shanta Letting are two of the six agents that have revealed their support for the new scheme. Should you be in Scotland and wish to join the scheme, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0344 515 2492.
